Annual tick spraying ensures public safety and comfort

The municipal district Mariánské Hory a Hulváky has recently carried out its annual spraying to ensure that the gardens of its preschools and the Gen. Janka primary school are free from ticks – giving peace of mind to parents. These insects can carry serious illnesses, so the district uses a special chemical which kills the ticks.

Deputy Mayor Patrik Hujdus gave more information:

“The spraying has proved very successful in previous years, and the number of children bitten by ticks is minimal. This is the third year in a row that we are taking this measure.”

This year’s spraying covers almost 25 000 square metres of grassy areas in the vicinity of schools, as Hujdus explained:

“We have treated all the garden areas of our preschools, the area around the playground of the primary school, and other school areas. This year we have also extended our coverage to include our nursing homes – so the senior citizens who live there will be able to enjoy spending time outdoors without having to worry about this potential nuisance.”

The schools and nursing home have welcomed the spraying with enthusiasm, and the district is currently planning a second spraying at the end of August – a time when children are returning from their summer holidays and getting ready for the new school year.
