Biowaste trucks get a graffiti makeover
Ostrava’s waste management company OZO has given its two newest rotopress trucks a complete makeover.
A rotopress is a type of waste collecting vehicle that uses a rotating drum to compress the waste. The drum contains a spiral-type system which compresses the waste further and further into the centre of the drum; the compacted waste is then removed by rotating the drum in the opposite direction. In the past, OZO purchased rotopress trucks whose rotating drum is hidden behind covering plates, so the mechanism cannot be seen. For the past three years, however, the company has been purchasing rotopresses without these covering plates, which staff have nicknamed “naked” trucks – and now it has decided to make them even more interesting to look at by giving them a complete visual makeover.
Three of the company’s rotopresses were previously given special 3D and 3D BIO wraps (a method of decorating a vehicle by covering it with a printed vinyl sheet) designed by Radek Leskovjan. However, these wraps only featured graphic elements on a simple white background, so for the latest two vehicles the company has decided to try something more visually striking – a graffiti-style wrap.
