ČistáOVA – an application for better public space
Ostrava has launched “čistáOVA” (Clean Ostrava), a new web application which allows people to report shortcomings in the public space. Their suggestions will now get to competent persons, who will then use the application to give feedback on how the problem has been resolved. The web application has a very simple interface that allows convenient use not only on computers, but also mobile phones and tablets without any installation or log-in.
“We expect people to report things such as illegal dumps, damaged playgrounds, untended public greenery, overflowing bins, broken benches, pavement holes or mess in the streets”, said Kateřina Šebestová, the Deputy Mayor. “The great advantage of reporting through the application is that citizens’ suggestions immediately get directly to the responsible person, so the issue can be addressed more efficiently and quickly. A pleasant and clean city is one of our top priorities”, added Ms Šebestová.
ČistáOVA is a communication channel that allows the public to notify the City Authority of defects in or problems with the City’s property and other kinds of issues, such as non-functioning public lighting, damaged street furniture, damaged traffic signs and pavements, unmowed lawns, missing sewer manhole covers, etc.
How to do it? Go to cistaova.ostrava.cz, click on the appropriate notification category, identify the problem briefly in the “name” field, or write more details in the “problem description” field, fill in the exact “address” (or tag the notification on the map), attach a photo and “send”. After the notification has been checked by the contact center, it will be sent to the appropriate authority. Progress can then be monitored under notification details.
