If you are going to the visit the Ostrava ZOO on May 1, you can bring an old electrical appliance and get a free ticket for your children. This way you can save money and help protect the nature – reuse of materials from old electrical appliances saves raw materials and thus the environment.
These old and non-functional electrical appliances will be collected on Tuesday, 1st May, from 9 am to 5 pm outside the entrance to the ZOO. In exchange for the appliance, children will get free access to the ZOO (the free ticket is only valid on this day). You can bring an old hair dryer, shaver, kettle, but also a vacuum cleaner, a microwave, a washing machine or a fridge.
The event is traditionally held in collaboration with Elektrowin, a collective system which supports the proper separation of electrical waste from which a number of materials can be recovered and utilized, thereby helping to protect the environment and endangered animal species. The mining of precious metals for the production of mobile phones and other electronic devices in many places of the Earth contributes to the devastation of our natural environment and endangers rare animals such as gorillas, elephants and other species.
