New tree-plantings planned for April

If you would like to plant a tree to commemorate the birth of your child or grandchild, you can join us in a tree-planting session ´Sady mladých´ scheduled for 26 April 2018 in the Belský Les forest.
Deputy Mayor of the Ostrava-Jih municipal district František Staněk gave more details: “As in the four previous plantings, people will be able to choose from three tree species – oak, cherry or beech. For a fee of 800 CZK, the family will receive not only the sapling itself, but also a certificate and a small sign with a plaque (including an extra plaque in case the original one is damaged or lost); the plaque will state what kind of tree it is and who it is dedicated to. Last autumn we added 44 saplings, and the atmosphere was truly wonderful.”
František Staněk is the founding father of the event, which was first launched two years ago and has quickly grown to become a successful tradition.
The deadline for registering your participation is 12 April 2018 – either phone (599 430 344), write an e-mail (petra.roupova@ovajih.cz), or write a letter to the Ostrava-Jih town hall (Úřad městského obvodu Ostrava-Jih); the letter should be clearly marked with the words “Sady mladých”.
