Revitalization of urban greenery

In the first half of June 2015 work was completed on this project, which involved the revitalization of existing green areas and the planting of new greenery at 7 selected parks in 4 municipal districts (Slezská Ostrava, Pustkovec, Mariánské Hory a Hulváky, Michálkovice) and alterations to the entry-points to several forested areas in Ostrava (Osošník, Porubský Les, Hulvácký Les, Korýtko, Bělský Les), including the treatment of trees in the vicinity of the entry-points to ensure their future health.

A total 1318 existing trees were treated as part of the project, 902 new trees were planted, a total area of 5 998 m2 was thinned and cleared, and 39 196 m2 of lawns and grassy areas were revitalized.
