At the neighbouring festivities “Ostrava, a different experience”, the city presented its accompanying programme. This time it focused on urban mobility and environmental topics. City representatives informed about the advantages of sharing means of transport, alternative means of transport, planned cycling and other events.
Visitors to the Ostrava stand were interested in the city’s activities linked to the European Mobility Week, which runs from 16 to 22 September.
“Within the framework of the European Mobility Week, we organized the “To work by bike” event, when all staff members of the City Hall were asked to leave the car at home for once and go to work on a bicycle or scooter. On Tuesday and Thursday, from 5 pm, visitors can take part in a walk through natural attractions to Silesian Ostrava Castle and along the Lučina River. On Friday, 22 September, we prepared a cycle trip with commentary to the confluence of the rivers Odra and Ostravice in Landek, which starts at 5 pm at the New Town Hall in Prokešovo square. We also exhibited environmental panels on which we presented, in a simple and graphically interesting way, for example, data on water management, information on waste management, measures to adapt the city to climate change and on the ongoing greening of urban public transport”, informed Deputy Mayor Kateřina Šebestová, responsible for the environment.
The whole public, private companies and institutions can, of course, become involved in the “To work by bike” event.
