State-of-the-art tram has arrived in Ostrava
The first Stadler Tango NF2 tram arrived in Ostrava on Monday night, April 23rd. It spent two days travelling on a semi-trailer truck from the plant in Siedlce, Poland. Now, the tram should undergo homologation and trial operation. Passengers will be able to use it from August. There will be 40 such trams in Ostrava.
All 40 trams will be delivered to the Ostrava Transport Company by June next year.
“I can say that this is the most modern tram in the Czech Republic, and has been custom-made for the conditions in Ostrava. Its bogie allows quiet operation, it has an air conditioning, USB sockets, and a capacity of 190 seats. To emphasize the Ostrava aspect, we have named it Stadler Tango NF2 nOVA”, said Daniel Morris, the managing director of the Ostrava Transport Company.
The tram is a low-floor vehicle adapted to the needs of people with reduced mobility. It also boasts reduced power consumption. Its design meets all EU safety standards. In addition, the tram face is optimally shaped to enhance pedestrian protection in case of a collision. The maximum speed is 80 km/h. The price of one tram is CZK 28.5 million.
This morning in the DPO premises in Martinov, Polish technicians built a ramp to bring the tram, centimetre by centimetre, down from the truck to the tracks. The whole operation lasted three hours.
